Not Through With You Yet | 2025 Lenten Devotional | Day 14

This song, “If You Want Me To,” by Ginny Owens came out in 1999! Some of us were mere babes, some had already lived a lot of life. And now, 26 years later, the same is still true- we are all going through different things that often feel scary!

What strikes me about this song, every time I listen (and often have a few tears), is the line “‘cause I’m not who I was when I took my first step, and I’m clinging to the promise you’re not through with me yet.” I think that this is applicable to everyone, no matter where you are. For me, I am most scared when I’m on an airplane, and you better believe I listen to this song and CLING TO THE PROMISE GOD’S NOT THROUGH WITH ME YET!

But for real, what a beautiful reminder to everyone that God is just always with us. It doesn’t matter at all where we are, and we don’t have to try and control our circumstances or fight to get to where God is. God’s just here. And we’re not done!
Matthew 26: 36-39

36 Then Jesus went with his disciples to a place called Gethsemane. He said to the disciples, “Stay here while I go and pray over there.” 37 When he took Peter and Zebedee’s two sons, he began to feel sad and anxious. 38 Then he said to them, “I’m very sad. It’s as if I’m dying. Stay here and keep alert with me.” 39 Then he went a short distance farther and fell on his face and prayed, “My Father, if it’s possible, take this cup of suffering away from me. However—not what I want but what you want.”

Beautiful lyrics and nice reminder. I’ll be 68 later this month and God’s not through with me yet.
