Day 27

Be the Light

Day 27
Friday, December 24

“In the beginning was the Word
and the Word was with God
and the Word was God.
The word was with God in the beginning.
Everything came into being through the Word,
and without the Word
nothing came into being.
What came into being
through the word was life,
And the life was the light for all people.
The light shines in the darkness,
and the darkness doesn’t extinguish the light.

John 1:1-5

Reflection
Sometimes the world around me can feel very dark. With a nation dividing over politics, destruction of the environment, and systemic injustice, I can easily get so overwhelmed. With darkness closing in all around me what can I do? Luckily, I have the Holy Spirit to shine through me, as a beacon of light in this ever-darkening world. Political climates change, but the light that is the Holy Spirit is constant. And all the darkness in this world cannot extinguish that light that God has placed in this world. Today, I will make sure to focus on the light of God, not the darkness of the world. I will do my best to carry that light with me to the darkest corners of my life.

Prayer
God, let me reflect your light into the darkness of the world. Help me remember that our light is constant no matter how dark it may seem.
