When I listen to this song, I hear someone who is dealing with the burden that is their fears and worries and who feels others do not fully understand this burden. The words “if you could see it through my eyes, you'd understand my fear of everything in sight” demonstrate how lonely it can feel to be burdened with something others either do not or cannot fully appreciate. I imagine this is much like Jesus’ experience in the garden of Gethsemane as he knows the suffering that is to come and the fear, sadness, and anxiousness set in. He also knows that his disciples do not fully understand what is to follow and therefore cannot truly appreciate this burden he is feeling. So, what does Jesus do about this fear? Well, much like Noah Kahan sings about wanting to ease his troubled mind, Jesus goes to God in prayer about what is troubling his mind. - Ian Goymer
Matthew 26: 36-39
36 Then Jesus went with his disciples to a place called Gethsemane. He said to the disciples, “Stay here while I go and pray over there.” 37 When he took Peter and Zebedee’s two sons, he began to feel sad and anxious. 38 Then he said to them, “I’m very sad. It’s as if I’m dying. Stay here and keep alert with me.” 39 Then he went a short distance farther and fell on his face and prayed, “My Father, if it’s possible, take this cup of suffering away from me. However—not what I want but what you want.”

Excellent, Ian! Kinda makes me think there really is no such thing as an irrational fear. Many might think it’s irrational to be really scared of a picture of a snake, but they’re not seeing it through the other’s eyes.
