3 Implications of God's Humanity on Yours

This notion of God becoming human, otherwise known as incarnation, has some major implications on your life. It’s a bold claim, I know, but hear me out. The knowledge of Jesus’ human life conveys 3 distinct truths about who you are.

These truths may not be new to you, but they are often misrepresented. Here are 3 truths we hope you’ll remember.

1. You are not a project to be perfected

God becoming a human in Jesus as “the Christ” reveals that Divine Love is fully accessible to all people. Too often, we separate Jesus from his humanity and in doing so attach Christ as his last name. Instead, it’s more accurate to see Jesus as a man within whom “the Christ” lived.

God came to dwell within humanity, taking up residence in the human form of Jesus. For you and I, this serves as a reminder that God’s dwelling within us is already present – we just have to be open to it.. There’s nothing more that you need to do. Your humanity is not a hurdle to overcome, but a sacred space God dwells in.

God is Divine Love, and that Divine Love has already chosen you as Their place of residence. You’re complete. All that’s left to do is believe and see it for yourself.

2. You are divine like Jesus

Over and over again, scripture reminds us that the spirit of God dwells within humanity. We see verses like, “It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me,” or “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen His glory” (Galatians 2:20 and John 1:14).

If there is only one Christ, then it’s the same Christ that resides in you that lives in Jesus. Maybe it’s time for you to stop striving to please God, and start believing that God is pleased in the work of Christ already. Which frees you to partner with God as you’re about to see.

3. You are God's plan

God wants to partner with you to impact the lives of others. God’s choice to dwell within humanity is reflective of this desire. Who better to unveil the love of God amongst humanity than people themselves?

“The Christ” in Jesus continuously showed humanity the way to eternal life. Jesus understood and believed that God dwelled within him, and in doing so became divine love for everyone. Regardless of where or how he met someone, Jesus revealed the way, the truth, and the life to them.

The Church has made Jesus out to be a “divine bouncer,” deciding who gets in or not. Jesus was really more of a tour guide, pointing out divine love to everyone he came across. The most beautiful fact is he did this by meeting them exactly where they were.

God chose to live in you as the “Christ” to help the lost see that a) God has ALWAYS been with them, and b) everything God has is theirs. They lack nothing other than the eyes to see what is already there. So, let’s be tour guides and show Christ’s presence within them.

This is how Paul wrote it in Colossians 1: 26-27

“This mystery has been kept in the dark for a long time, but now it’s out in the open. God wanted everyone, not just Jews, to know this rich and glorious secret inside and out, regardless of their background, regardless of their religious standing. The mystery in a nutshell is just this: Christ is in you, so therefore you can look forward to sharing in God’s glory. It’s that simple.” - The Message
